What makes Ajith a better star than Vijay
Why on Earth would I think of writing about this? Seriously, I never even took any interest in Tamil movies. But everywhere I go, whenever we chat and ramble, the conversation ends in an argument between Ajith fans and Vijay fans. I’ve listened to these intense word-fights (between two of my bestest friends too!) and recently, have started pitching in too. In favour of? Ajith. Let me tell you why!

Granted, both of these actors have talents and a huge fan-following. But Vijay isn’t helping the industry in creativity, freshness of content or even realistic movies. All of his movies are the same and his next movie will definitely look like a rerun of his last one (Note: Applies to his remakes too). His fans argue (and probably Vijay does too) that he doesn’t experiment because of his “mass-hero” image. That is such a lame excuse! The money made or the number of fans an actor has is no real measure of how good an actor is. Why does everybody love Surya? Because of his paycheck? His fan clubs? Nuh-uh. Because he can act.

good post spike! and honey let me say this – i agree wholeheartedly with ganesh when he means vijay is no good for the industry and I AM NOT A FAN OF ANY ACTOR in particular! i would also like to add that ur favourite star is a coward in his own right. for a guy who gave PRIYAMANAVALE it should ve taken him absolute insanity to do movies like kuruvi and most of all the overtly obscene villu. if u still agree that he is sane, maybe u shld take a look at nayanthara’s costume and the doubly meant scenes in villu! years from now i would whack my kids if they catch a glimpse of something so perverted! ask ur hero to take a break and maybe go to the himalayas and get some insight. and most of all ask him to choose a director with a straight mind next time he decides to make a movie. and maybe he could explain y he has his heroines dress down and lecture them on decency! u wld be fooling urself if u said he does what the director asks him to. no actor accepts a movie without reading the script! i am a blogger too and that prevents me from swearing on a website… there are good movies around…maybe its time dr.vijay stars in one…!!!!

@john bosco: Hi John. Yeah I’m an engineer, and right now I work for a prestigious Fortune 500 company, so I know I did pretty well on the engineering front. If you are not very conversant with the whole concept of a “personal blog”, I recommend you read up on that. Of course, you are entitled to your not-so-stupid opinion, and that is why your comment has been approved and being replied for.
I wanted to compare Vijay with Ajith because they’re the two top actors now (in terms of fan base). And because all of my friends are either Ajith fans or Vijay fans. And let me tell you something – the whole Tamil film industry hasn’t really come of age because of actors like Vijay, who hinder any form of improvement in intellectual/artsy content of movies. Hope Vijay fans understand this nonsense.

Each one is unique, if ajith has gud action vijay dances well. If your comparing wid ajith even hes givng a flop film row by row. Even his film also not running in theatre properly. This nonsense thng has to understand by Ajith fans n not Vijay fans.

Please note the title of the post.. I am not comparing them as actors.. I am comparing them as “stars” (as in how their fans and people see them).. So yes, Formula 3 racing and photography have got everything to do with their personalities (fans take a lot of interest in these things).

And I’m reiterating my point.. The box office collections have no connection to acting skills. I agree that he’s sort of an entertainer, but I’ve seen his own fans laughing at his over-the-bridge leap in Kuruvi. Every Vijay’s movie has more mindless stunts and scenes than those in all of Ajith’s movies put together.. Sensible movie goers will know what I’m talking about..
And I take pride in my English, and the message in this post is not just riding on it.
P.S: No one is perfect. But some people just wanna show that they are pissed off without really thinking about what they wanna say (unlike you).. And I just had to return the favour..

Well.. If you define Vijay as “sort of an entertainer”.. I would definitely define Ajith as a “sort of an actor”.
I really liked him in movies like Vaali, Citizen.. he looked charming and he did act!
I liked Billa too.. but he din act in the movie! Even though it was stylish, he never got a chance to exhibit his actin skills. Forget it.. Billa is one kind of a movie and was a runaway hit.
Comin to the movies after Billa…
Aegan – he couldn come out of the “Billa hangover”. He really didn’t emote!
Asal – I don’t know why he made it knowin the fact that the “Billa hangover” is not goin to workout anymore! The funnier part is.. the movie was shot for more than a year! And for the amount of hype ? It was a damp squid!
Now.. isn’t the actor makin stereo-typed movies ? Trust me.. Asal was irritatin with the word “Thala” poppin up every 2 minutes!
Comin to the “Vijay’s Kuruvi Jump”.. It was hilarious. I laughed my ass off!
What did the ultimate star do in Asal ? He’s shot dead and falls into the sea (rather we assume he’s dead) and the next scene he’s sittin in Russia with Sameera ? Well.. it did seem absurd even to my friends who are die hard Ajith fans!
And looks – Yes, he looked smart and trim in Billa, what happened after that ? He looked really really old in Aegan and Asal – Please ? He’s lost it. Havin a beard and wearin suit cant make you look young. He’s lost the charm. Like I said.. he cant emote which makes him look even worse!
Vijay – I wouldn say he’s this handsome hunk. But still we compare him with the fair and handsome Ajith. But, Vijay looks much younger than Ajith! Nowadays, Vijay looks good compared to his movies you’ve mentioned above. He’s got a good physique compared to Ajith, who’s family pack seems to be growin along with him (No offence dude.. couldn’t control

I personally feel Vijay is the best dancer as of now in the Tamil Film Industry! People fight with me and say – No, it’s Simbu. I wouldn’t accept it. At the age of 35 its not so easy to dance so well, but he’s got the style and grace which Simbu cant match. And Ajith doesn’t come into the scenario at all. I’ve heard people sayin – Just dance! So what ? So it is in Tamil Films. Songs constitute half an hour of the whole movie, and you give half an hour of shit ?! His dance is as bad as the “Kuruvi Jump” and “Villu Flight Sequence”.. sometimes even worse! Can someone forget the tottodoing and kuthuraiku theriyum from Asal ?

@sura,praveen: Sura, my name’s Prasannah. And we know about him because we are his fans. Ajith essentially doesn’t advertise the good things he’s doing. Anyways, word gets around. Just look up “Mohini-Mani Foundation” on Google. And in a way, all actors do something like that, mostly only for good publicity. So it’s no big deal.

Okie, I’ve been tracking this post for so long now. I want to make it clear that I’m neither their devotee nor a maltreater of them (may be i would be unwillingly biased if this is a post about the super star

#Entry – So what are you trying to point here? If it is that vijay got his celebrity status because of his dad, i just want to ask you this – shouldn’t a singer’s son become a singer just because his father is a singer?
#Movies – Clever. Throwing some ugly adjectives in Vijay’s column but forgetting (?) to do in Ajith’s column.
#Acting – Up voted. Accepted
#Awards – Logical
#Looks – A little harsh. Not that bad, actually.
#singing – Ridiculously . Most of his songs (atleast a few, so cannot rule out as “Can’t sing”
are runaway hits.

#Hobbies – Irrelevant comparison in the columns. You could have rather said that he doesn’t have any constructive hobbies.
#Attitude – I feel the other way. The lyrics of his songs says the story. Abusing vijay in every possible way (please dont be so naive to say that Ajith doesn’t write down the lyrics). Vijay even attended Ajith’s daughter’s birthday party. I think that is a good gesture.
