It’s time for civil disobedience
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Greenpeace’s Green Idol campaign has decided to tackle the issue of climate change head on. Being a part of their campaign, I had recently got an e-mail with some hard hitting truths. The online petition signed by more than 50,000 people has been ignored by the Prime Minister and Greenpeace is now asking us ordinary citizens to take direct action.

The e-mail tells the story of how six Greenpeace activists entered a coal power-plant in October 2007 and defaced one of its chimneys. They were arrested and charged guilty. The case is still dragging on in court while this whole incident was simply ignored by the press and the media. Just reading that pissed me off. There was such a hue and cry over SRK being detained at Newark Airport but no one cares about people who stood up for our future. Shame on them!
I’m quoting the powerful words of Prof. James Hansen of NASA (from the e-mail I’m talking about). They reflect the entire premise of the issue.
“Civil resistance is not an easy path, but given abdication of responsibility by the government, it is an essential path.. Direct action is necessary because the democratic process is not bringing about policy change fast enough.”

Well said!
A majority of the Greenpeace campaigns are kept away from the public eye.
If only the attention is drawn to the more important issues rather than the futile , the Earth can be saved from the impending disaster!
