Color the Earth Green
A gentle breeze wafts through the window bringing the sweet scent of fresh blossoms. The reddish-orange glow of the rising sun is indeed a divine scene. Distant, yet energetic and happy twitter of a sparrow.. Pause.. A sparrow? Are we in the wrong time zone? Well, in today’s world, the scene described above seems to be just a dream. Talking about sparrows seems to be quoting dinosaurs. Certainly a pitiable state that man has put earth in!!
Where dense green forests and grasslands once thrived, lie concrete jungles instead. What could one expect other than malign sun rays with that huge hole in the ozone layer? Even the simplest pleasure of a breath of fresh air has been deprived of man. Oxygen-enriched air is after all now a luxury, with “oxygen bars” becoming an upcoming trend.
As the Mahatma rightly said, “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not any man’s greed”. When man can’t exist in harmony with nature, the very sustenance becomes bitter. Conservation messages and “Save-our-Earth” tags may seem a bit of a cliché, but the fact is that they need to be rooted deep in every earthling’s subconscious, so that every deed done would involve a conscious effort to make the earth a better place to live in.
